Blue Loon Bakery is owned and operated by Laurie Schive and Mike Morgan.
They founded the bakery in 2018 to create traditional artisan-style breads made with simple, locally-sourced ingredients.
In the years before making New Hampshire home, Laurie and Mike lived, traveled and worked in many corners of the world, to include some of the countries best known for bread and pastries. It was in Austria that Laurie developed her first sourdough starter, and what began as a fascination became a passion when she and Mike moved to New London. The concept for the Blue Loon Bakery was born of Laurie's passion for baking, and their mutual desire to contribute in some small way to the warmth and soul of New London that drew them to set down roots here.
They hope that the Blue Loon Bakery, so named by their granddaughter, nurtures this warmth and soul just as it nurtures the Sunapee Sourdough starter that is at the heart of their bakery.
